It's Kuya's Birthday!

Today is August 28th. The only brother we have among 9 siblings was born today. And so, I wanna wish him a very happy birthday!!!

This is him and his wife Joy with their son Lance

It wasn't that long ago when we were still kids playing and hanging around with each other. We are the closest amongst us all. Maybe because I was next to him in order from our eldest. He was the seventh, and I, the eighth. I remember how our late father loved us so much. In our childhood, he became my protector and my constant playmate. He would tickle me and would only stop when I can barely breathe because of how I giggled. He would comb my long hair, would wash my dirty feet when bedtime came. He would wash the dishes for me. And would saved me in any thing I that I can hardly do. I remember how proud he was of me during elementary days. I was a first grader and he was in grade 3, and everybody in school knew who I was in his life. He would the first person to cheer for me during awarding ceremony when my name was being called. I know that he would do anything for me if need be.

When we grew older, he changed some of his ways. He was rebellious and became a prodigal son but how he treated me never changed. It is only I whom he listened to when the need for corrections arose. He doesn't hesitate to call for advices and help on me. But things turned out to be sometimes ill-favored to us all and he had times of irresponsibility when the worst problem in our family was felt. When our Papa died, he was so emotional and I knew he had moments of breakdowns. He knew I have had, too.

Now, we both have our own families. He still is struggling in life, like I do. I think we all are. He still has irresponsibilities sometimes towards his very family but I constantly advised him to keep going. Hopefully, all the changes in him will be for the better. Now that he's a year older, I wish him the desires he so long in his heart. He knew full well that I loved him. And that i will always be here for him.

Happy Birthday Kuya!

So I Am Not That Honest?

I really find this blogthings.com test to be so interesting and so I found myself taking it! The question is.. how honest are you? Oh... wow!!! It sure shocked me that I am not completely honest then with evey dealings I have made. LoL. Look how my result shows!

You Are Somewhat Honest

You do tend to tell the truth a lot

But you also stretch the truth on occasion

You figure a little lie isn't a big deal

As long as it doesn't hurt anyone too much!

What about you?

MIL's Birthday

It's August 9! I know a lot of friends and family members who celebrate their birthday on this very day. My late father was on August 1st, and my Kuya on August 28th, the very feast day in CDO City, Philippines. Two of my pamangkins has the same birthday which is on August 17th, Kate Joeveeh and Kate Joyce, yeah, they're sisters. And another pretty and talented niece is on August 25th. Ahhh... what a celebration!

But today being August 9th is my Mama Domie's birthday. My very gracious and kind mother-in-law. So I'll be dedicating this post to her...

Her and Papa Nic... so inseparable!

People fondly call her Nang Doming or Sister Domie. She is Inday to her husband Nicanor, Sr, mama to her children and Lola to all her apos. I've known her since our courtship days, as like me and swithart, she is very active in church where we are members. She leads the Home and Family Department, a member of the Deaconesses and Women's Ministry. So much respected by young people and adults because she is naturally born to be respected and she lives a life having deep respect for each individual. I remember when swithart was still courting me, she thought we were already lovers that time and she anxiously told her son to get marry right away if we were already on. She did it because she was worried about her son not interested to settle down when he wasn't getting younger anymore. Lol! Well, swithart told me that when his mama would say something like that, she meant to say that she likes the lady that his son is going out with. Hmmm.... for a 'decent' woman like me, what great compliment that was, don't you think?

When swithart and I were struggling with our long distance relationship, she was there to support us both. I can feel her love and care towards me that ladies who know us envy me. Really. And for all those times I've felt her motherly love, I'm as grateful as I can be. It's not that great celebrating birthdays here in the US because in our place in CDO, we are used to being serenaded early dawn on our birthdate! I am pretty sure Mama missed and is sick of thinking about home these days. (Well, they said they can't wait to go home later this year!) Here, she only has few people around to talk to as she isn't that confident with her English language. But back in our place, she is known for being wise a counselor and expert in giving advices. She is trusted. And she lives what she says.

She is far unique than most people are. Her humility and kind-heartedness is beyond compare really. I know I am blessed to have a mother-in-law in her person, and I'm forever grateful for the qualities. the good qualities she didn't teach but she shows us with her works. She's one great example of a wife, a mother, and a woman that fears the Lord.

I'm sure she'll be wiping off some tears when she gets to read this, like she did when she read the card I wrote to her this morning. I didn't have material thing to give, only love and care and gratefulness to reciprocate what she has given to us in the past and in the coming days.

Happy birthday Ma! Until forever you will be in our hearts!

Friday's Feast

Appetizer
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how polite are you?

9! My parents instilled in us this virtue ever since. Why not 10? Well, I can’t perfect it esp. when I am with people who are bossy and proud!

Soup
What was the last thing that made you laugh out loud?

Last night, it took us almost 2 hours to put Triz to sleep because I figured she doesn’t want to just yet, so she was still playing even when it was already dark in the room. She was just so silly to imitate our whispering and showing us how sharp her vision was by looking us in our eyes amidst the darkness! Hooh! Who wouldn’t lol w/ that?

Salad
Who is your favorite cartoon character?

I just am not that fond of cartoon shows, but for the sake of Triz, I am forced to watch “Clifford”. I like Hello Kitty, if it would matter!

Main Course
Tell about the funniest teacher you ever had.

She wasn’t really that funny but it’s us who made fun at her! She wasn’t really our teacher, she was just on OJT, back in my senior high, Physics sub. We were so naughty and competitive and proud of our class then when we felt she’s incapable of dealing with us. She cried for she could not stand how we ridiculed her teaching style. We were asked to report at the Guidance Office. I am refreshed with how funny it was!

Dessert
Complete this sentence: I strongly believe that like swithart, I am as well stronger when we’re together!

Enjoy feasting friends!
